Description

1874-S Liberty Head Twenty, MS61
Underrated Date in High Grade

1874-S $20 MS61 NGC. An available issue in circulated condition, the 1874-S Liberty Head double eagle is an underrated date in Mint State grades. While MS61 examples can be located with patience, any higher grade is very scarce. The present coin is well struck, with a little softness evident on Liberty's hair. The surfaces are a pleasing greenish-gold color, with bright mint luster. A scattering of minor abrasions on both sides is consistent with the grade.(Registry values: N2998)
