Description
Lustrous MS62 1875 Double Eagle
1875 $20 MS62 PCGS. The double eagle mintage of 1875 is a generous figure approaching 300,000 coins, all the more remarkable when one considers that most of the other gold denominations produced in that pre-Centennial year range from the absurdly low to the nearly unique. The eagle, for example, saw a business strike mintage of only 100 coins, the smallest circulation strike emission of any gold coin. This is a lustrous MS62 example of the double eagle, with glowing luster radiating from orange-gold surfaces and excellent overall eye appeal. At the MS63 level, the certified population thins out markedly.
