Description

1875-CC Double Eagle, MS61+
Attainable Mint State Nevada Twenty

1875-CC $20 MS61+ NGC. Winter 9-A. No fewer than 16 die pairs were needed to produce 111,151 double eagles at the Carson City Mint in 1875. Two diagnostic die lines -- one over E and another off the top-left serif of R in AMERICA -- are key identifiers for the Winter 9-A die pair. With an 111,151-piece mintage, the 1875-CC twenty is the most-available CC-mint double eagle. This Plus-graded MS61 example is partially prooflike and sharply struck. Tiny marks pepper the reflective fields of this lustrous orange-gold example. Lightly frosted motifs are well-struck and the technical quality of this popular date will attract strong bids.(Registry values: N2998)
