Description

Amazing 1875-S Twenty, MS64

1875-S $20 MS64 PCGS. Over more than two decades of coin certification, PCGS has graded 1,730 1875-S double eagles, but only six of those coins grade MS64, and just one finer piece (the James A. Stack MS67) has been examined. More than 1 million pieces were originally minted, and most entered circulation or were exported overseas. The connoisseur will have to wait until the MS67 coin reappears in the market place, or else be content with an MS64. Although it has a few small marks, mostly on the obverse, the present brilliant Mint State piece is exceptional, with frosty yellow-gold luster and beautiful orange patina. Population: 6 in 64, 1 finer (10/09).(Registry values: N7079)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AU, PCGS# 8975, Greysheet# 9923)

Weight: 33.44 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
