Appealing MS60 1876-CC Double Eagle

1876-CC $20 MS60 PCGS. Large numbers of 1876-CC double eagles have returned to America from European and South American vaults over the past couple of decades. The vast majority of certified Mint State coins are in the MS60 to MS62 range as most were shipped loose in bags resulting in numerous abrasions. Indeed, a mere five coins have been assigned MS63 or MS64 and none finer. The peach-gold surfaces of this Uncirculated offering display a splash or two of bluish-purple at the obverse rim between 10:00 and 11:00, and partially prooflike fields offset the well impressed design features. Distributed small marks are fewer and of less severity than what might be expected for the designated grade, and the coin is more appealing than what the numeric grade might suggest. Housed in a green label holder.
