Description
Attractive Mint State 1876-CC Twenty
1876-CC $20 MS60 PCGS. The mintage of the 1876-CC double eagle was roughly 20,000 pieces higher than the 1875-CC and 1874-CC issues, probably due more to the vagaries of bullion deposits than to the popularity of the Centennial date. This piece displays attractive, flashy orange-gold surfaces that show moderate scattered, mostly light abrasions in keeping with the grade. The excellent strike is typical for this well-produced issue, one that is more available than previously, due to repatriations of coins hoarded overseas. From The E.J.
