Description
Semiprooflike 1876-CC Double Eagle, MS60
1876-CC $20 MS60 PCGS. The 1876-CC twenty was long considered rare in Mint State. David Bowers, in his American Coin Treasures and Hoards treatise, writes: "That changed in 1993 when many dozens--quite possibly over 100 pieces--came to light." Virtually all of these coins were in the MS60 to MS62 range. The semiprooflike fields of this MS60 specimen display die polish lines in the protected areas of the obverse. Its yellow-gold surfaces are minimally abraded for the grade designation. Encapsulated in a green-insert holder. From The E.J. Mutton Collection of U.S. Gold, Part Two.(Registry values: N2998)
