Description

1876-CC Double Eagle, MS61 CAC
Seldom Finer

1876-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. CAC. Winter 3-A. The 1876-CC is the most prominent issue of the Carson City double eagles, producing a total of 138,441 pieces. The issue, like many others, was partially shipped off to South America and migrated to Europe, leaving collectors to predominantly settle for Extremely Fine or About Uncirculated examples for decades. Efforts have been made to repatriate some coins, and a light trickle has now been reported in Mint State, though none have been seen beyond Select Uncirculated. The present piece displays attractive fawn-gold luster and is largely well struck. There are a handful of abrasions around the coin with none particularly prominent, and some reed marks that have blunted the arrowheads. CAC: 41 in 61, 10 finer (3/26).(Registry values: N4719)
