1876-CC Twenty Dollar, VF35
Colorful Branch Mint Piece
1876-CC $20 VF35 PCGS. Winter 5-A. The Carson City Branch
Mint struck 138,441 double eagles in 1876, and even though it is
the largest production of the series, Mint State examples are
challenging. From the final issue of Type Two double eagles, this
VF35 Liberty twenty features refreshingly vibrant patina with deep
orange-gold. Hues of apricot and lavender in the recesses and
device borders mix with slightly diminished luster to release a
colorful cartwheel effect, which is quite strong for the grade.
Abrasions are grade-consistent with none of significance. A network
of die lines within the neck curls, along with a diagonal line
between the denticles under the N and T on the reverse, are
