Description

1877-CC Double Eagle, AU50
First Type Three Carson City Twenty

1877-CC $20 AU50 CACG. Winter 1-A. White-gold surfaces contain hints of russet in select protected areas. Striking weakness exists on the uppermost strands of hair, and wear is even. An old mark at the lower chin is the only abrasion of note. In 1877, the Mint transitioned to the third and final type of Liberty Head double eagle, which adjusted the obverse head positioning and spelled out the denomination on the reverse.(Registry values: N1793)
