Description
Vibrant AU58 1877-CC Double Eagle
1877-CC $20 AU58 PCGS. CAC. While light rub crosses the high points of the central devices, the fields of this near-Mint coin shine with the luster of a Mint State beauty. The portrait is well-defined save for the tops of the letters in LIBERTY, and the color is strong sun-yellow with paler elements at the obverse core. Scattered light abrasions and a few more significant marks on the chin are consistent with brief circulation. The 1877-CC was the first Type Three (or TWENTY DOLLARS reverse) double eagle struck at Carson City, and many collectors have been attracted to its historical significance.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26AZ, PCGS# 8983, GSID# 9926)
