Description
1877-S Twenty Dollar, MS62+
Boldly Struck Orange-Gold Example
1877-S $20 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. Type Three S-mint Liberty double
eagles are perennially popular, although they have seen
considerable collector interest in the last few years, along with
the bull market in gold. This orange-gold 1877-S is certified MS62+
by PCGS, showing a bold strike like most of the San Francisco
issues of this era, and generous luster complements. A few minor
obverse contact marks account for the grade, including a small
patch of scrapes near the last 7 in the date. A small dark fleck
appears behind Liberty's hair bun. The reverse displays similar
minor marks, but the eye appeal is strong. Population: 4 in 62+, 29
finer (9/12).(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26B2, PCGS# 8984, Greysheet# 9927)
Weight: 33.44 grams
