Description

1877-S Twenty Dollar, MS62
High-End for the Grade

1877-S $20 MS62 PCGS. The smooth, satiny surfaces of this Mint State 1877-S double eagle seem to belie the grade, although some unobtrusive handling marks on the cheek contribute to the numeric designation. This piece is sharp and attractive with yellow-gold color. The 1877-S twenty is occasionally seen in this grade but rarely with eye appeal comparable to that of the present coin. Finer representatives are rare, as PCGS has seen only 35 such submissions (7/16).(Registry values: N2998)
