Description
XF 1878-CC Twenty With Even Wear
1878-CC $20 XF40 PCGS. The tiny mintage of 1878-dated double eagles in Carson City was dwarfed by the totals produced in both San Francisco and Philadelphia, and it would be a couple of decades henceforth before collectors started paying attention to mint marks. Accordingly, most survivors of this issue are well-circulated. This XF example shows lovely orange-gold coloration, with a few ticks that are fewer and less severe than expected for the grade and issue.(Registry values: N1793)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26B4, PCGS# 8986, GSID# 9928)
