Description
Conditionally Rare 1879 Twenty, MS63
1879 $20 MS63 PCGS. CAC. This is only the seventh appearance of an MS63 1879 twenty in any our auctions since 1993, and we have never offered a finer example. The auction and certification data shows that this issue is plentiful in all grades through the lowest Mint State levels, including MS61 and MS62, but it is a rarity any finer. This lovely piece has frosty yellow luster with bold design motifs. The surfaces have a few minor abrasions that are consistent with the grade. A dark area at the top of the fourth vertical stripe on the reverse may aid the numismatist who seeks a provenance for this coin. Population: 13 in 63, 7 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N4719)
