Description
Minimally Abraded 1879-CC Double Eagle, AU50
1879-CC $20 AU50 NGC. Variegated mint-green and apricot-gold patina resides on both sides of this CC-mint representative. Traces of luster are found within the recessed areas of the well defined design features. The minute marks scattered about are fewer and less severe than ordinarily seen on most survivors. This issue is not as scarce as its low mintage of 10,708 pieces might suggest, due to hoards that have turned up in recent decades. Mint State coins, however, are elusive.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26B7, PCGS# 8989, GSID# 9930)
