Appealing Choice XF 1879-CC Double Eagle

1879-CC $20 XF45 PCGS. Though recent decades have brought a number of examples of the 1879-CC double eagle to light, such appearances have fed demand for this low-mintage date rather than sated it. The present Choice XF coin is well struck overall and retains considerable luminosity. The lower right reverse shows two alloy spots that stand out against the light yellow-orange color present elsewhere.(Registry values: N1793)
