Description

1880-S Liberty Head Twenty, MS61
Excellent Mint Luster

1880-S $20 MS61 PCGS Secure. A large mintage of 836,000 Liberty Head double eagles was achieved at the San Francisco Mint in 1880, but most examples seen today are heavily circulated. The issue is slightly scarce in MS61, but specimens in higher Mint State grades are quite elusive. The present coin exhibits sharp details on all devices and strong, frosty mint luster. The pleasing surfaces are an attractive greenish-gold color. A cluster of minor abrasions around Liberty's mouth accounts for the grade.(Registry values: N1793)
