Description
1881-S Liberty Head Double Eagle, MS62
Seldom Encountered in Finer Grades
1881-S $20 MS62 PCGS. CAC. The 1881-S Liberty Head double
eagle is easy to locate in circulated grades, but examples in MS62
condition are scarce. The date is nothing less than rare in any
higher grade, as PCGS and NGC have combined to certify only 22
coins at higher grade levels (8/10). The present coin is a pleasing
MS62 specimen, with a sharp strike and frosty mint luster. The
surfaces are an attractive greenish-gold color, and show only
grade-consistent abrasions.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BD, PCGS# 8995, GSID# 9934)
