Description

1883-CC Double Eagle, MS61
Rarely Offered With CAC Endorsement

1883-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. CAC. Variety 2-A. The main diagnostic for this variety is the mintmark placement, with the second C partly over the D in DOLLARS. All Carson City double eagles are popular, sustaining ever-strong collector demand. The 1883-CC is no exception, with a relatively small production of 59,962 coins. Examples in MS60 and MS61 are accessible, but those with CAC approval are rare, as are numerically finer survivors. This lustrous orange-gold representative shows complete radial lines on the stars, and well-detailed curls and feathers. Abrasions are scant. PCGS reports 32 finer submissions. CAC: 8 in 61, 4 finer (12/18).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BH, PCGS# 8999, Greysheet# 9937)
