Description

Appealing, Scarce 1883-CC Double Eagle, MS61

1883-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. CAC. The 1883-CC double eagle is easily obtainable through the mid AU grade levels. AU58 through MS61 coins are very scarce, and anything finer remains rare (Michael Fuljenz and Douglas Winter, 1999). The apricot-gold surfaces of this MS61 specimen yield semiprooflike fields that establish mild contrast with the motifs. The design elements are much better defined than ordinarily seen, and the minute marks scattered about are fewer and of less severity that typically found. In sum, this piece generates considerable eye appeal for the grade, to which the CAC label attests. Population: 31 in 61, 14 finer (8/08).(Registry values: N4719)
