Description

1883-CC Double Eagle, MS62
Heavily Exported Carson City Twenty
CAC Endorsed

1883-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Winter 2-A. The 1883-CC Liberty double eagle claims a mintage of 59,962 pieces and the issue is actually more available than that modest production total would suggest. Many of the coins were used in overseas commerce -- rather than the regional economy -- and later repatriated to this country. The 1883-CC is a favorite choice of branch mint type collectors. This attractive MS62 example is sharply struck and luminous. Lustrous orange-gold surfaces show remarkably few signs of contact for such a large gold coin. Mint State Carson City twenties from the 1880s are always in strong demand and this coin will be a welcome addition to a fine collection or Registry Set. PCGS Population: 5 in 62+, 7 finer. CAC: 12 in 62, 2 finer (1/25).
