Description

1883-CC Twenty Dollar, MS62
Minimally Marked and Pleasing

1883-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. Variety 2-A. The 1883-CC double eagle has a mintage of less than 60,000 pieces, approximately 5% of the production of its San Francisco cousin. Despite the low emission, the '83-CC is regularly available in XF and AU grades, but is undeniably rare in Mint State. The present MS62 representative displays vibrant cartwheel luster across well-struck sun-gold surfaces. Marks are surprisingly minor, both on the fields and the portrait. Given the great rarity of the issue at the Select level, the present lot provides an excellent opportunity to secure a high-end MS62 example. Population: 19 in 62, 4 finer (1/17).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BH, PCGS# 8999, Greysheet# 9937)

Weight: 33.44 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
