Description

Near-Mint 1884-CC Double Eagle

1884-CC $20 AU58 NGC. A charming yellow-gold Borderline Uncirculated CC-mint double eagle. Luster is prevalent save for the open obverse field and Liberty's cheek. Abrasions are refreshingly minor, and the eye appeal is further increased by a consistent strike. Examples of the 1884-CC were exported as trade payments to European bank vaults, where they were regarded strictly as units of bullion prior to the FDR gold recall.(Registry values: N1793)
