1885-CC Double Eagle, AU Details
Low-Mintage Issue

1885-CC $20 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. AU. Variety 1-A. This low-mintage Carson City issue circulated extensively in the West, and it was also used in the export trade. Survivors are scarce in all grades and always in demand. The present example is still lustrous, although lightly hairlined from cleaning on the obverse (but not excessively so). The surfaces are bright and somewhat reflective. Despite the cleaning, the coin would not be out of place in a nice, circulated set of XF-to-AU double eagles.
