Description

1885-CC $20 -- Improperly Cleaned -- NGC Details. XF. Variety 1-A. A moderately circulated example of this better CC-mint issue. The portrait and left obverse field are thickly hairlined, and we note a cluster of thin marks beneath the left (facing) wing. 1885 coinage at Carson City abruptly ended shortly after Grover Cleveland's inauguration. Only 9,450 pieces were struck.
From the collection of Donald E. Bently, sold for the benefit of the Bently Foundation.
