Description

1889-CC Double Eagle, AU58
Lustrous and Well Struck

1889-CC $20 AU58 NGC. Winter 1-A. Significant cartwheel luster adorns this near-Mint 1889-CC twenty, while only slight high-point wear prevents full Mint State classification. A few specks of amber-colored residue near obverse stars 6 and 7 serve as pedigree markers. The strike is sharp. Higher-grade 1889-CC double eagles are elusive, although the date as a whole is slightly more collectible than its mintage of 30,945 pieces would suggest.(Registry values: N1793)
