Description

1889-CC Twenty Dollar, MS61
Low-Mintage Carson City Issue

1889-CC $20 MS61 PCGS. Variety 1-A. The Carson City Mint struck meager coinages of silver dollars and double eagles in 1889, about $350,000 worth of the Morgan dollars and some $618,900 worth of Liberty Head twenties. This amounted to less than $1 million between both denominations, the only two struck in 1889 Carson City. Mint State examples are mostly MS61, as here, or MS62, and anything finer is seldom seen. This piece boasts attractively deep reddish-orange patina alternating with lighter yellow-gold. Scattered marks, some on the larger side, determine the grade while not defeating the eye appeal. Population: 48 in 61, 63 finer (12/14).(Registry values: N2998)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BV, PCGS# 9011, Greysheet# 9945)

Weight: 33.44 grams
