Description

Lustrous Mint State 1889-CC Twenty, MS62

1889-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. This date is considered scarce in all grades, and it is a rarity in Mint State grades. While a handful of examples have been certified by PCGS at higher grade levels, this example seems to be a good value, with an excellent combination of quality and price. Both sides are fully detailed and highly lustrous with brilliant yellow-gold surfaces. While a few scattered abrasions are evident on each side, the eye appeal is that of a higher grade coin. A minor scratch by the date is evident. Like most examples from the Carson City Mint, the rims of this double eagle are noticeably beveled. Population: 55 in 62, 6 finer (7/06).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BV, PCGS# 9011, Greysheet# 9945)

Weight: 33.44 grams

Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
