Description

Select Mint State 1889-CC Twenty

1889-CC $20 MS63 PCGS. In 1889, the Carson City Mint's date of return from a four-year production hiatus, the facility tackled only two denominations, silver dollars and double eagles. The silver dollars are a famous rarity in the Morgan series, and while the double eagle issue is not revered as a key, it still commands plenty of respect, especially at the condition-rarity MS63 level. This is one such example, strongly struck with bold wheat-gold luster through a light layer of patina. Scattered minor abrasions appear on each side, including a minor scrape within the reverse shield, and copper spots appear on obverse and reverse, most boldly above the ES of STATES. A decently struck coin for the date, and one that displays well. Population: 6 in 63, 1 finer (12/10).(Registry values: N4719)

Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BV, PCGS# 9011, Greysheet# 9945)
