Description

1890 Twenty Dollar, MS62
Conditionally Scarce Issue, CAC

1890 $20 MS62 PCGS. CAC. Double eagle production at the Philadelphia Mint in 1890 totaled slightly over 75,000 pieces, which was even fewer than those produced at the smaller Carson City branch that year. Mint State survivors are occasionally found --typically certified at MS62 and lower grades. MS63 examples are rare, and finer coins are exceedingly so. This radiant, frosty representative showcases rich orange-gold luster and boldly detailed motifs. A bit of "vault grime" and a few surface grazes plus pinprick marks may preclude a finer grade, but they do not significantly detract from the bold eye appeal offered by this CAC-endorsed twenty.(Registry values: N4719)
