Lower Mintage 1890 Select Double Eagle

1890 $20 MS63 NGC. The double eagles of 1890 were struck in limited numbers (75,940 circulation strikes). Most of the surviving coins grade MS60 to MS62. Select examples are very scarce, and higher-grade pieces are rare. The lustrous surfaces of this MS63 specimen display hints of mint-green and light tan complementing apricot-gold patina. This sharply struck piece is free from distracting marks. Census: 16 in 63, 5 finer (5/09).(Registry values: N4719)
