1890 Double Eagle, MS63
Seldom Offered This Fine
1890 $20 MS63 PCGS. This is an early strike with the top of
the 1 in the date clearly doubled. Just 75,940 of these coins were
produced and few survive in higher grades. This Select example is
sharply struck with lovely light yellow-gold luster. The fields are
frosty with hints of pink and honey gold toning. About 100 coins
exist in this grade at PCGS and NGC combined, while barely a dozen
are reported finer. Population: 68 in 63 (2 in 63+), 8 finer
(4/24).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 9/2004), lot 7850.(Registry values: N4719)
