Description

High-Grade 1890-CC Double Eagle, MS63
Seldom Seen Finer

1890-CC $20 MS63 PCGS. The 1890-CC double eagle is a generally available issue even in the lower Mint State grades, and it is one that is usually well struck. However, many examples are kept from the higher grades by a plethora of abrasions that plague the issue. This coin is a delightful exception, with fully original surfaces displaying faint lilac color interspersed with light reddish-gold. The strike is full, and there are no obvious post-strike contact marks. A small planchet flake, as made, appears to the left of the bust truncation. An appealing type coin to represent the fabled Carson City Mint, and an issue seldom seen finer. Population: 5 in 63, 1 finer (2/10).(Registry values: N4719)
