Description
1890-S Double Eagle, MS63
Conditionally Scarce
1890-S $20 MS63 PCGS. A heavily exported issue, but few
coins have returned to the U.S. with the Select Uncirculated
surfaces possessed by this example. The fields are reflective
beneath a coating of mint frost, resulting in colorful accents when
rotated in light. Orange and lime-green hues interplay with
abundant luster beneath the frosted patina. A thin scrape on
Liberty's neck is the most notable mark, but it is shallow and not
seriously distracting. Conditionally scarce in this grade, with
just 20 pieces certified numerically finer by PCGS and only eight
coins finer by NGC (6/14).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26BZ, PCGS# 9015, Greysheet# 9948)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
