Description
Appealing 1892 Double Eagle, AU55
1892 $20 AU55 NGC. One of just 4,400 pieces struck, the 1892 was the last low mintage double eagle at the Philadelphia Mint. Splendid yellow patina drapes both sides of this boldly defined specimen. Myriad abrasions cover the surfaces and lightly obscure the still-impressive prooflike fields, although NGC has neglected to designate them as such. A shallow dig is noted to the left of the bust. An eye-catching and highly lustrous representative.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26C5, PCGS# 9019, GSID# 9827)
