1892-CC $20 MS61 Prooflike NGC. Given the small production of 27,265 double eagles in this next-to-last year of manufacture at the Carson City Mint, it is unsurprising that an occasional Prooflike specimen appears amid the few Mint State examples known of this issue. The present coin is one of four so certified at NGC, and there is one Prooflike finer at NGC, an MS62. This piece displays stunning, deep mirrors on each side, with moderately contrasting devices. As expected from an MS61, numerous small abrasions are scattered over each side. The strike is bold in the centers but somewhat weak at the margins, especially the obverse stars.
