Description
1893-CC Twenty, MS62+
Bright Yellow-Gold Surfaces, CAC
1893-CC $20 MS62+ PCGS. CAC. The 1893-CC twenty has a couple
of factors working in its favor. It has a remarkably low mintage of
only 18,402 pieces, and most of the mintage was shipped to Europe
and held there for many years, giving collectors Uncirculated coins
when they were repatriated. One of the problems with this issue are
alloy spots, appearing on many of the Uncirculated pieces. This
example lacks that particular problem -- rather, the surfaces are a
bright, even yellow-gold color. The mint luster is bright and
frosted, and the abrasions present are small, widely scattered, and
individually inoffensive. These factors undoubtedly explain the
Plus designation. This is an exceptional Carson City type coin from
the final year of the Nevada Mint's coinage operations. Population:
9 in 62+, 29 finer. CAC: 24 in 62, 3 finer (10/24).Ex: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2015), lot 3445. (Registry values: N2998)
