Description

1893-CC Double Eagle, MS62
Attractive, Final-Year Carson City Issue

1893-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. Winter 1-A. A low-mintage issue with just 18,402 pieces made, the 1893-CC twenty is best known as the final double eagle date struck at the Carson City Mint. Most of the production went overseas, and few coins circulated domestically. As a result, the issue is found as often in Mint State than in circulated grades, because many of the exported twenties have returned to the United States. This lustrous and well-struck sun-gold representative is smooth for its grade aside from a few moderate bagmarks on the left obverse field. It is from Winter 1-A dies, a scarcer marriage than its Winter 1-B alternative.
