Description

1893-CC Double Eagle, MS62+
Final Carson City Issue

1893-CC $20 MS62+ PCGS. Winter 2-A. Yellow-gold surfaces contain wisps of toffee and russet-brown, with some additional electric-blue and magenta on the reverse. A few abrasions are present on the cheek and before the face, but other abrasions are hidden in the toning and are noticeable only upon thorough examination. Eye appeal is wonderful.
This final Carson City issue saw circulation in the West, but a likely greater portion of the mintage was exported overseas. Given the present example's MS62+ grade, it was likely exported. However, this examples relative lack of abrasions for the grade, as well as its attractive technicolor toning, give it far greater eye appeal than the typical repatriated double eagle. Few finer certifications exist as well. PCGS Population: 12 in 62+, 33 finer (3/26).(Registry values: N2998)
