Description

Delightful 1893-CC Double Eagle, MS62

1893-CC $20 MS62 PCGS. The 1893-CC double eagle is more available than its low mintage of 18,402 pieces might suggest. It is infrequently seen in grades below AU50, suggesting that the issue saw relatively little circulation. Indeed, PCGS/NGC population figures show that the two services have graded approximately 500 Uncirculated coins, all MS63 and below.
Beautiful apricot-gold and mint-green toning graces the lustrous surfaces of this MS62 specimen, and a precise strike imparts bold definition to the design features. These attributes combine to give this coin delightful eye appeal for the designated grade. It is only the scattered but inoffensive marks that limit the coin's grade. Yet its surfaces do not reveal the heavy bagmarks characteristic of most '93-CC double eagles.(Registry values: N2998)
