Description
1894 Liberty Twenty, MS65
Significantly Rare at This Grade
Virtually Unavailable Any Finer
1894 $20 MS65 PCGS. With a mintage approaching 1.4 million
pieces and a certified population of about 25,000 examples, the
1894 double eagle has common-date status through the MS63 level,
before its numismatic value quickly becomes noticeable at every
increment any finer. Near-Gem examples are scarce and fully Gem
MS65 coins are extremely rare. Today, PCGS and NGC combined have
seen only 19 examples so-graded and only one numerically finer
piece exists (an MS67 NGC coin). Richly frosted orange-gold color
yields reddish accents while a pinpoint-sharp strike confirms the
substantial surface quality. Only a few incidental luster grazes
are seen on the thickly frosted, highly lustrous surfaces. The eye
appeal is excellent. PCGS Population: 11 in 65 (1 in 65+), 0 finer
(3/26).(Registry values: N4719)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CB, PCGS# 9025, Greysheet# 9829)
