Not Sold Description
1896-S $20 MS61 Prooflike NGC. The 1896-S twenty was struck in large numbers (over 1.4 million pieces), and NGC and PCGS have certified a few thousand in the low- to mid-grade Uncirculated range. That said, NGC has designated just 30 coins with Prooflike finish, all MS60 to MS62. The brass-gold surfaces of this specimen offer noticeable field-motif variance, and a well executed strike leaves sharp detail on the design features. Distributed small marks appear to just barely preclude the next highest numerical grade.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CG, PCGS# 79030)
