Description
Gleaming MS64 1897 Double Eagle
Minimally Abraded
1897 $20 MS64 NGC. CAC. This near-Gem double eagle was
struck in the year the great Klondike Gold Rush began in Alaska's
Yukon Territory. San Francisco and Philadelphia both struck
generous quantities of the type in 1897, nearly 1.4 million pieces
of the P-mint issue. This near-Gem example exhibits gleaming luster
over peach-gold surfaces that are minimally abraded and
well-struck. NGC has certified only 12 pieces finer
