Description

1897 Twenty Dollar, MS64+
Rarely Seen Finer

1897 $20 MS64+ PCGS. Breen-7325, Repunched Date. Frosty, vibrant yellow-gold luster delivers the bulk of the eye appeal -- which is significant -- on this high-end Choice 1897 double eagle. The strike is sharp, and only a few light grazes on the cheek prevent Gem classification. The 89 in the date is repunched west, adding technical interest to this already outstanding double eagle. PCGS has seen only seven finer representatives (4/16).(Registry values: N2998)
