Description
Elusive Gem 1897-S Twenty
1897-S $20 MS65 NGC. Like several other P and S-mint twenties from the 1890s above, this issue is common in lower grades but very elusive in strict Gem condition. Only 10 Gems have been certified by NGC (5/01) with none finer, which should make the '97-S conditionally rare in anyone's book. The features are sharply struck and the surfaces have a hard metallic sheen that glitters brightly as the coin is angled beneath a light. Rose-gold color.Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CJ, PCGS# 9032, Greysheet# 9958)
Weight: 33.44 grams
Metal: 90% Gold, 10% Copper
