Desirable Gem 1897-S Double Eagle, MS65

1897-S $20 MS65 NGC. A sharply detailed Gem that will find a ready audience among specialists bidding in this sale. While the NGC population is somewhat higher than the PCGS population, only 20 examples have been certified as MS65 by both services, and only three have exceeded that level.
This example is sharply defined with rich honey-gold luster on both sides. The surfaces have frosty luster with a tiny patch of reflectivity at the center of the reverse. A few tiny copper toning spots can be seen on the obverse, while the reverse is pristine. Only the slightest surface marks can be seen on each side of this Gem.
