Description

1898 $20 MS62 NGC. The 1898 has a relatively low mintage, and this factor, when combined with the non-numismatic storage of survivors, account for its high-grade rarity. None have been certified as MS65 or finer at either service, and even near-Gems are seldom encountered. The present butter-gold double eagle is lightly abraded for the MS62 level aside from inconspicuous marks on the reverse near 4 o'clock.(Registry values: N1793)
