Description
Low-Mintage 1898 Double Eagle, MS63
Lustrous and Sharply Struck
1898 $20 MS63 PCGS. The smallish mintage of the
1898--170,395 business strikes--is responsible for the paucity of
examples graded finer than MS63 today. PCGS has certified only
seven pieces in MS64 (6/10). Coruscating luster washes over the
peach-gold surfaces, which show few abrasions for the grade and a
bold strike. The reverse is particularly choice.(Registry values: N2998)Coin Index Numbers: (NGC ID# 26CK, PCGS# 9033, GSID# 9833)
