Gem Mint State 1899 Double Eagle
1899 $20 MS65 NGC. The Florida grading service has only examined two finer examples of this date, while PCGS has never graded a better one. It is an exceptionally attractive Gem with brilliant and frosty yellow-gold luster and sharp design motifs. Subliminal pinkish toning is present along the borders on each side. Like many of its peers, this issue is an example of a condition rarity in the series with finer examples essentially non-existent.
